If you have grief or sorrows or fear the evil eye or the deception of people or Shaytan then these are some very simple and short but powerful prayers for protection that we came across in Qurtubi’s Tafsir.
Qurtubi quotes a hadith in which Anas (Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Whoever reads (when leaving the home) Bismillahi tawakkaltu ‘ala ‘Llah, La hawla wala quwwata illa bi ‘Llah, it is said to him, ‘You have been sufficed (placed in care) and protected,’ and the Shaytan distances himself from him” (Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud).
Qurtubi further reports, “Whoever reads four formulas is protected from four evils: (1) Whoever says Ma sha Allah, la quwwata ill bi ‘Llah is protected from the evil eye. (2) Whoever says Hasbuna ‘Llahu wa ni’m al-wakil is protected from the scheming of Shaytan. (3) Whoever says Wa ufawwidu amri ila ‘Llah is protected from the scheming of people. (4) Whoever says La ilaha illa Anta subhanaka, inni kuntu min al-zalimin is protected from grief.
